MONTANA HIGH ADVENTURE BASE (MOHAB)
Last updated January 13, 2010
LOOKING FOR AN ADVENTURE? MOHAB IS THE DESTINATION!
The Boone and Crockett Club's MOHAB (Montana High Adventure Base) provides an experience for older scouts like none other in Scouting. The program is built with a Boy Scouts of America participant relationship in mind.
Your journey starts at the Great Falls International Airport where you will meet your program coordinator and head 2 hours North East to the foothills of the Rocky Mountain range. Based out of the Club's 6000 acre Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Ranch (TRMR) near Dupuyer Montana, the combined program and camping experience are both world class.
The TRMR Base Camp provides the backdrop for the first days of the adventure where you will prepare for life on the trail. Sharpen your skills on the shooting range or take a rod out to the local stream for some of fly fishing. Learn to follow local Wilderness trails, take some time to find out about the wildlife of the local region or that you might see while on the trail, or take an evening hike to see some elk grazing.
Elect to take a pre-determined backcountry trek or build your own route. Hike over the continental divide? Select a campsite with fishing opportunities? With over 1 million acres in The Bob Marshall Wilderness area to select from, the choices are unlimited.
Off the trail and back at the ranch finds you and your crew taking in more MOHAB programs and well deserved rest before a Steak dinner and closing ceremony. Looking for adventure - you found it.

Location
MOHAB is based out of the Elmer Rasmuson Wildlife Conservation Center (ERWCC) on the TRMR. The 6,000 acre ranch lies in the foothills of the east slope of the Rocky Mountains near Dupuyer, Montana. The property abuts thousands of acres of national forest and Wilderness containing prime habitat for elk, mule deer, whitetail deer, cougar, among other small mammals and birds. Grizzly and black bears frequently use this property and bighorn sheep and Rocky Mountain goats occur in adjacent national forest lands.
The Ranch and ERWCC serves as the base of operations for MOHAB. Crews - 12 persons per crew - depart the base for pre-established treks into the Bob Marshall Wilderness, a 1,009,356 acre Wilderness located west of the Ranch and ERWCC. The "Bob" straddles the Continental Divide with elevations ranging from 4,000 feet along the valley floors to more than 9,000 feet at mountain summits. This vast Wilderness is seven (7.34) times larger than Philmont (137,493 acres) with established trails. Several trailheads to the “Bob” are within walking and driving distance of the Ranch property.
