One of the local Schools attend the Lee and Penny Anderson Wildlife Conservation Education Program on the TRMR. Over 2,000 k-12th graders visit the Elmer E. Rasmuson Wildlife Conservation Center to engage in science based education on the TRMR. This group is headed out to do water quality monitoring along Dupuyer Creek. |

Outdoor Classrooms on the
Rocky Mountain Front
In addition to individual school field trips at the Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Ranch, the Conservation Education Program works with many area natural resource professionals and educators to offer a variety of workshops throughout the school year for students as well as adults. Each of the courses below is thoughtfully designed to incorporate ecological principals through a variety of topics and teaching methods, including games, hands-on activities, simulations, and other interactive methods.

2010 Class Schedule NOW AVAILABLE
Have you ever wondered where your favorite animals live? Or what they eat? Do you wish you could spend some time fishing and studying what lives around the edge of a pond? Day activities include short hikes, fishing, exploring the plants and animals found in the area, wildlife tracking and discovering ways to enjoy the out-of-doors. Parent or guardian may accompany their children. Shuttle service is available from Choteau and Conrad upon request for an additional cost. When: June 9, 10, and 11, 2010 All equipment and supplies are covered including a morning and afternoon snack, and a sack lunch. Boone and Crockett Club’s Anderson Conservation Education Program on the Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Ranch west of Dupuyer Montana at the Foot of the Rocky Mountain Front Range wildlife conservation camp Do you have an interest in the outdoors, conservation and advanced outdoor skills? Join us for four days of wildlife related hands–on activities and engaging presentations by wildlife and natural resource professionals. Topics include conservation ethics, species diversity, habitat management, population ecology, predator–prey interactions, capture and census techniques, animal and plant identification, hunting as a management tool, hunter safety, shooting and fishing skills. The camp goals are: 1) To encourage youth to be conservation-wise citizens and; 2) To develop an avenue for youth interested in natural resource related-careers - fish, wildlife, ecology, water, etc. - to have an opportunity to interact with professionals. Boone and Crockett Club’s Anderson Conservation Education Program on the Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Ranch west of Dupuyer Montana at the Foot of the Rocky Mountain Front Range Outdoor Skills camp Do you want to learn basic outdoor skills, such as knot tying, fly tying, shooting sports, campfire building, journaling and tracking skills? Campers will use digital cameras, GPS units, maps and compass to gather and analyze their experiences on the Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Ranch and adjacent public lands. Primary goals of this camp are: 1) To develop an understanding, awareness and appreciation for the great outdoors of Montana's Rocky Mountain Front and the importance of conservation and natural resources and; 2) To provide an opportunity for youth to gain a variety of outdoors skills on private and public lands. 2010 Course scheduled for September 11 |
The Fourth Annual Women’s Hunter Education Course is set for September 11, 2010; 10 miles west on the Boone and Crockett Club's Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Ranch at the Elmer E. Rasmuson Wildlife Conservation Center. This one day FREE event is organized and taught by Montana Hunter Education Instructors and is cosponsored with Montana Fish Wildlife and Parks. Arrival time is 8:30 a.m. and ends at 5:30 p.m. Course includes a FREE lunch for participants and instructors. All course equipment and Montana Hunter Education manual is provided. Participants are required to read the entire Hunter Education manual and take each chapter quiz prior to taking the course.
Participants take the hunter education test at the end of the course to receive certification. The test for certification as a Hunter in Montana and test review is included at the closing of the day. When: September 11th, 2010 Cost: none for course materials, equipment, and lunch
