Bear Trust International to Sponsor Boone and Crockett Club 29th Big Game Awards
Thursday, May 05, 2016

Bear Trust International lends its support by sponsoring one of North America's longest-running celebrations of big-game conservation and management - the Boone and Crockett Club 29th Big Game Awards, scheduled for July 14-16, 2016 in Springfield, Missouri.

The triennial Boone and Crockett Club 29th Big Game Awards will take place at the Bass Pro Shops flagship store in Springfield. The event offers a public exhibition of World's Records and Top 5 animals in all categories of native North American big game, plus records-book specimens taken during the past three years by hunters age 16 and under.

"This is an opportunity for the public to celebrate our hunting heritage and learn more about the North American Model of Wildlife Conservation", said Club President Morrie Stevens. "The big game specimens are a result of sustainable use conservation and verification that science-informed programs are working to ensure wildlife for future generations."

Dr. Melissa Reynolds-Hogland, executive director of Bear Trust International said, "As a science-based conservation organization which values the roles that science and hunting play in effective wildlife conservation, we are proud to collaborate with the Boone and Crockett Club.  All of us at Bear Trust endorse fair chase and we applaud the hard work that Boone and Crockett does to promote this important ethic".

Stevens added, "By sponsoring the 29th awards, Bear Trust is joining a team of dedicated professionals who share the common goal of preserving wildlife and the habitats that support them. From creating science-based education programs about timely conservation issues, to restoring habitat and conducting relevant, applied wildlife research, Bear Trust is making a difference for wildlife conservation."

Boone and Crockett Club began keeping records of harvested animals in 1906 as a way of detailing species once headed for extinction.  Thanks largely to conservation efforts by hunters and anglers, many of those once-imperiled species are thriving today.  Truly, the North American Model of Wildlife Conservation has been a success!

To date, the growing list of sponsors for the Boone and Crockett Club 29th Big Game Awards includes Bear Trust International, Wild Sheep Foundation, Federal Premium Ammunition, Dallas Safari Club, DNZ Products, Americase, Weatherby, the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, Buck Knives, Kimber Manufacturing, the Mule Deer Foundation, Yellowstone Press, and the Guides and Outfitters Association of British Columbia.
