Boone and Crockett Club Announces Time of Death Tool

In the quiet aftermath of the hunt, a hunter stands thoughtfully before their prey, a mix of emotions stirring within. This moment is more than the end of a chase; it's a profound respect for the life taken, acknowledging the natural cycle and the sustenance provided. Amidst feelings of gratitude, responsibility, and a complex bond with nature, the hunter silently honors the animal's sacrifice.

Time of Death Tool

As part of our records-keeping process, Boone and Crockett Club collects data on the time of kill. Now, for the first time ever, we're making this data available to the public as another tool in the suite of tools available as part of a Big Game Records LIVE subscription.

Times displayed as a heatmap with kill counts.

Time of Death is a simple, but handy tool that can provide insights and reveal patterns regarding what time of day different species are typically taken in specific areas.

This tool correlates the recorded kill times of trophies in our records book. You can perform broad searches or narrow it down to the species, state, and county level, or combine states and species. You may also choose to isolate the kill months if you wish.

The times are grouped in half-hour increments from 15 minutes before the hour until 15 minutes after the hour. Each stripe displays the number of kills during each half-hour time period.

Big Game Records LIVE is available as a stand-alone subscription for the low price of $50 per year, or as a 3-month trial as part of Boone and Crockett Club's $60 membership option.
