Boone and Crockett Club's first book on wildlife law and policy development - North American Wildlife Policy and Law - has been awarded two Gold winners and one Silver winner for the 31st Independent Book Publishers Association (IBPA) Benjamin Franklin Awards program. The book has also been selected as a finalist for the 2018 INDIES Book of the Year Awards.

The prestigious IBPA Benjamin Franklin Awards recognize excellence and innovation in independent publishing and demands both editorial and design distinction. North American Wildlife Policy and Law won Gold for the Nature & Environment category, Gold for the Reference category and Silver for the Professional & Technical category.

"These prestigious awards are a wonderful testament to the many dedicated authors who contributed their knowledge and expertise to this book," remarked Winifred B. Kessler, B&C Professional Member and co-editor.

North American Wildlife Policy and Law is a comprehensive text that thoroughly examines the history and foundation of policy related to wildlife, and reviews and analyzes major federal, state, and provincial laws and policies important to natural resource management. The volume also delves into the application and practice of policy to ensure the sustainability of wildlife, fish and their habitats. Boone and Crockett Club worked diligently with professors of prominent wildlife programs, top-level biologists and natural resource professionals throughout the world to compile a complete reference source for academics, legislators, policy implementers, tribal leaders and everyday wildlife professionals.

"As wildlife professionals, it is our duty to maintain and improve this world-class system of conservation we have throughout North America," said James L. Cummins, an Executive Vice-President of the Boone and Crockett Club and a co-editor. "Science is no longer enough as we must constantly address the political, economic, social, and other challenges facing wild places and wild things. And more often than not, that is in the policy arena. This text is a must-have for upcoming and current professionals who want to advance this precious resource for generations to come. It is very gratifying to see others recognize this need and honor this book with so many awards."

The Boone and Crockett Club's volume is also one of the finalists for Foreword's 2018 INDIES Book of the Year Awards. Pared down from 2,000 entries, finalists spread across 56 genres and were selected by Foreword's editorial team. Final winners will be judged and selected by a panel of librarian and bookseller judges from across the country. The winners will be announced on June 15, 2019.

"What an astounding honor to have our textbook garner such a prestigious recognition," stated Bruce D. Leopold, B&C Professional Member and co-editor.
