Official Measurer Code of Conduct

Official Measurer Code of Conduct

As a Boone and Crockett Club Official Measurer, I understand that I am acting as an agent/representative of the Boone and Crockett Club and therefore to maintain my appointment, I am hereby agreeing to adhere to the following:

  • I will represent myself and the Boone and Crockett Club in a professional manner and to the best of my abilities;
  • I will make myself available to score trophies for B&C that make B&C’s minimums;
  • I will score any and all trophies accurately;
  • I will contact B&C’s records office with scoring questions prior to scoring any potential Top 10 trophy per its category, and potential state or provincial records and any difficult, controversial, and questionable trophies;
  • I will not charge for scoring, nor will I solicit gifts and/or donations for scoring;
  • I will encourage trophy owners with qualifying trophies to enter their trophy into B&C records and will assist them with all necessary entry procedures;
  • I will defer from scoring trophies where it may be perceived that I have a conflict of interest;
  • I will not speak to the media regarding a trophy I have scored without having first consulted with the B&C records office;
  • I will not convene or participate in an unauthorized panel scoring of a trophy, nor will I refer to a joint measuring of a trophy with other measurers as a panel;
  • I understand I do not have the authority and will not give permission to use the B&C scoring system to any outside group, rather deferring such requests to the B&C records office;
  • I will not produce my own scoring or measuring video or app and will not allow myself to be filmed scoring a trophy without prior permission from the Club’s records office;
  • I understand that I am only providing trophy owners with a PRELIMINARY ENTRY SCORE, and that a FINAL ENTRY SCORE will be determined and confirmed by the Club’s records office;
  • I will not knowingly rescore trophies already officially scored by another B&C Measurer without prior permission from B&C’s records office;
  • I will report to B&C headquarters allegations of suspicious activities regarding potential trophy entries and provide any assistance necessary in gathering pertinent information;
  • I will refrain from expressions of personal opinion in the public arena that may be contrary to Boone and Crockett Club’s policies, procedures, and decisions; and
  • I will make myself available and participate in all measuring and scoring continuing education efforts initiated by the Club.

Violations of this Code of Conduct will be grounds for revocation of Official Measurer
appointments on a case by case basis by the Boone and Crockett Club’s Records Committee.
