Outdoor Industry Communication Council

Hunters, anglers, trappers, and shooters are the lifeblood of conservation in this country—through the purchase of licenses and equipment, these individuals provide the majority of funding for state wildlife agencies. They also actively participate in conservation projects, help support food banks through game meat donation, help to mentor new outdoor enthusiasts, and much more.

While many of these participants have some knowledge about this uniquely American system of conservation, not many sportsmen and women truly understand how the system works and why it is such a core part of the North American Model of Wildlife Conservation.

The Boone and Crockett Club is working with our partners at the Outdoor Stewards of Conservation Foundation and the Wildlife Management Institute through the Outdoor Industry Communication Council (OICC) to share information about the benefits of going outdoors and participating in activities such as hunting, fishing, trapping and target shooting.

Through a series of stories, intended for a broad audience, the OICC is helping to communicate the positive contributions of hunters, anglers, trappers, and shooters. These stories are informative and engaging—and we encourage B&C members and partners to help share the message. We will regularly be including OICC stories in our In the Field electronic newsletter and including the stories on this section of our website.

Help us spread the word—share these stories with your friends, family, and colleagues! .
