The Robert M. Lee Foundation Sponsoring the Boone and Crockett Club's 30th Big Game Awards

The Robert M. Lee Foundation has joined a growing list of sponsors of the Boone and Crockett Club's 30th Big Game Awards, which is scheduled for August 1-3, 2019, in Springfield, Missouri.

A triennial event, the 30th Big Game Awards is being hosted by Bass Pro Shops and Cabela's and will take place at the Wonders of Wildlife National Museum & Aquarium in Springfield. Visitors to the museum will be treated to an exhibition of outstanding trophies taken in fair chase over the past three years, including at least one new World's Record, state records, and Top-Five trophies representing 33 different categories of native North American big game. The exhibit will also feature record book specimens taken by young sportsmen, age 16 and under.

The Robert M. Lee Foundation is sponsoring the event's Fair Chase Award and providing travel assistance for young hunters invited to attend and have their trophies honored, in addition to sponsoring the North American Caribou display in the museum exhibit.

"Bob Lee was one of the early adopters seeing value in the Club's big game records program and its ties to the conservation and management of these species," said Boone and Crockett Club President Timothy C. Brady. "He was a valued member of the Club, and we're pleased to see that his foundation is carrying Bob's legacy forward."

Bob Lee passed away on January 28, 2016. Of his many contributions, his appreciation and passion for collecting fine sporting arms are featured in such books as, The Art of the Gun and Magnificent Colts.

Lee's wife and newly appointed Regular Member of the Club, Anne Brockinton Lee said, "Bob cared deeply about wildlife, hunting, conservation, and the Club's big game records program. As a publisher of books on fine sporting arms and hunting, we recognize hunting as a significant mechanism for conservation. We often do not think of big game trophies as proof of successful conservation but we should. I'm proud to continue to share the importance of conservation and Fair Chase for the future of sportsmen and women, something important to Bob, myself, and our foundation."

The Fair Chase Award is given every three years to the sportsman or sportswoman who best exemplified the tenets of Fair Chase as set forth by the Club's founder, Theodore Roosevelt. The award will be presented during the 30th Big Game Awards banquet on August 3, 2019.
