Kevin Thomas's once-in-a-lifetime buck from Missouri Photo: B Official Measurer Dr. Vince Crichton
33-point Missouri Giant
July 1, 2002

Kevin Thomas of Sweet Springs, MO made his 2001 opening day dreams come true with this 280-class non-typical whitetail. You may have seen the article "Bizarre Non-typcial Might Shatter Missouri Record" in Deer & Deer Hunting's August 2002 issue.

Although this is one of the top hunter-taken non-typicals of all time, it has been determined by the Boone and Crockett Club's Records Department that the Thomas buck is a stag and therefore cannot be accepted into the Awards Program.

NOTE: Stag is a word that is commonly used to refer to a healthy, mature adult male caribou. Stag is also a word used to identify a male animal that is castrated after maturity. Such stags, which occasionally occur in wild antlered game, are not eligible for entry into the Boone and Crockett Club's Awards Program and/or records books because their antlers continuously grow, never loose their velvet and are never shed. The Pope and Young Club also does not accept stag bucks as entries.
