Brandon Juszczyk 2011
Buckeye Big Buck
December 15, 2011

I got this buck in Medina County, Ohio on November the 6th with my bow and I've nicknamed him The Back Yard Booner because I harvested him in my friends small 8 acre property behind the house. I had just bought a decoy preparing for a hunt on my girlfriend's farm the following week in Waynesville, Ohio. My excitement got the best of me and I couldn't help but try it out on this Sunday morning, a week before my trip, in the tiny patch of woods behind my friend's house. It was my first time ever using a decoy and I was only hoping to see a doe or button buck interact with the decoy but when the 170 inch buck saw it at about 60 yards he stomped his foot in rage and came in with his ears pinned back. He circled to face the buck decoy head on and gave me a perfect 20 yard shot. It was a text book perfect hunt and the biggest buck I've ever killed. He scored about 170 inches exactly gross and has a unique 4 brow tines on his left side. With 13 scoreable points and two small kickers he's the buck of a lifetime for me. He is not eligible for official scoring until january 5th. I am 22 years old and have been bow hunting since I was 11. I have no private property and have never been able to afford a hunt on a managed property. I have harvested six respectable bucks in my life. One scoring 136 inches but The Back Yard Booner is what keeps us hunters coming back year after year. I do my best to learn as much as I can about these great animals and the sport of hunting. It's an absolute passion of mine that cannot be explained.
