Boone and Crockett Club Helps Form Alliance

In 2001, the Boone and Crockett Club, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation and Mule Deer Foundation formed a partnership alliance to address chronic wasting disease (CWD). The organizations agreed to pool resources and collaborate on ways to positively address the CWD issue. 

The intentions of the Club in establishing and popularizing a big game scoring and record keeping system were greater than arriving at a score, and honoring animals and hunters. The beginnings of record keeping had other purposes, conservation and the recovery of our big game species, and insisting on ethical sportsmanship.

In 2022, both the Boone and Crockett Club’s National Collection of Heads and Horns and one of B&C’s great partners, Federal Premium Ammunition, celebrated their centennial anniversaries. The building that housed the National Collection was dedicated in May 1922 and marked a critical time in turning the tide toward wildlife conservation. Hunting is not for everyone, which means some people will oppose it. Anti-hunting sentiment is nothing new, nor are the attempts by some groups to end all hunting by smearing hunting in order to enlist more non-hunters to support their anti-hunting agenda.
