During the two-day event, keynote speaker, former Arkansas Governor and presidential candidate Mike Huckabee spoke to a capacity-filled room about how hunting and the shooting sports foster a strong sense of personal responsibility and ethics in America's youth and supports a growing economy and a healthy environment.

"It was good to see representatives from federal and state agencies, conservation organizations and outdoor industry come together to talk about the future of hunting and the shooting sports," said Lowell E. Baier, president of the Boone and Crockett Club. "Hunter recruitment and retention, hunting access and opportunity…these all represent serious challenges in terms of perpetuating our cherished American outdoor traditions and subsequently threaten the life blood of conservation and effective wildlife management."

The Summit closed out with attendees committed to taking action on key initiatives to reach prospective new hunters and shooters, engage them and thus help ensure that hunting and shooting traditions will be a lasting heritage passed on to future generations.
