Boyt Harness Co. is the first company to join Trailblazers in Conservation, a new Boone and Crockett Club initiative to unite the hunting community and help it rise to the challenges of a changing world.

If sporting lifestyles—and, by extension, the successful conservation programs long funded through hunting—are to thrive in the future, then today’s sportsmen must find a way to balance climate change, increased energy development, unmitigated urban sprawl, wildlife disease outbreaks, conflicting policies and a host of other challenges.

Boyt’s partnership in Trailblazers in Conservation will help fuel the Club’s work for better conservation polices and hunter access and advocacy, as well as funding new science and an overall awareness of the need for and benefits of sustainable-use conservation.

“Boone and Crockett has always been a small, yet powerful force for conservation,” said Marc Mondavi, vice president of communications for Boone and Crockett. “Our founder, Theodore Roosevelt, believed a small organization fueled by cooperative partnerships could carry great influence in Washington D.C., and he was right.”

Early Club members founded the National Park Service, U.S. Forest Service and National Wildlife Refuge system, fostered the vital Pittman-Robertson and Lacey Acts, created the federal Duck Stamp program and developed the frameworks of modern game laws.

“Today, conservation has new challenges, but our ability to solve problems still depends on partnerships, and we’re grateful to Boyt Harness Co. for their dedicated involvement,” said Mondavi.

Boyt Harness Co. traces its roots to 1901 and an industrious family-owned saddlery in Iowa. The company produced equipment for the U.S. military through both World Wars, then adapted to emerging markets in the sporting goods industry. Boyt’s products and leadership have been shaping hunting and outdoor sports for more than 70 years.

“Boyt is extremely pleased to be part of the Boone and Crockett Club’s Trailblazer initiative” said Tony Caligiuri, president of Boyt Harness Co. “As an outdoor industry manufacturer, we owe much our success to the efforts of the Boone and Crockett Club.”
