MT State Record Controversy
July 25, 2005

Kelly Frank, the same man that stands accused of a sinister plot to kidnap David Letterman's son and his nanny, is now accused of crimes against wildlife.
Frank also had this great typical mule deer in his possession, believed to have been poached by Frank on Letterman's ranch. During the investigation, an informant told authorities that the buck had been poached by Frank during the winter, after the season. Frank insists that someone else shot the deer, but did admit to illegal possession of the trophy deer. He has been charged with felony possession of wildlife. The prosecuting attorney has indicated he will seek the maximum punishment for the offense - five years jail time, $8000 fine, and lifetime revocation of hunting and fishing privileges.
The deer has been officially scored at 207-7/8, which would make it the new Montana State Record. Such a trophy could be entered into the records book as a "Pick Up" trophy, if owned and submitted by Montana Fish, Wildlife, & Parks.
