The Boone and Crockett Club warmly welcomes the Senate’s confirmation of Brian R. Nesvik as the next Director of the United States Fish and Wildlife Service. Director Nesvik's confirmation as the 19th director to lead the Service  will now allow him to take the reins of the Service at this important time of change.

Director Nesvik brings nearly three decades of experience from the Wyoming Game and Fish Department, where he rose from game warden to director over a 29‑year career before retiring in September 2024. He is a Professional Member of the Boone and Crockett Club. He also served for 35 years in the Wyoming Army National Guard, retiring with the rank of Brigadier General in 2021. During his confirmation hearing earlier this year, Nesvik impressed senators with his practical experience and his principled emphasis on science-based, collaborative management.

Director Nesvik’s membership in our Club reflects his commitment to responsible stewardship, ethical leadership, and conservation grounded in sound science. As hunters, wildlife professionals, and advocates, we hold his record in high regard.

“Brian Nesvik’s confirmation not only brings a leader with deep field experience and integrity to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service—it also reflects the values we champion as a Club,” said Tony Schoonen, Boone and Crockett Club CEO. "We look forward to working closely with Director Nesvik and the Service to advance wildlife conservation policies that are durable, science‑based, and respectful of both nature and the traditions of hunting, fishing, and fair‑chase stewardship. His confirmation is an encouraging step in the continuing work to conserve America’s wild places and wildlife for current and future generations. We particularly look forward to working with Director Nesvik to reinvigorate the National Wildlife Refuge System.”
