The government is us; we are the government, you and I. -Theodore Roosevelt

What does it mean to be an Associate of the Boone and Crockett Club?

Being an Associate of the Boone and Crockett Club means that you stand for fair chase hunting in support of common sense natural resource conservation.

  • It means that you belong to an action group deserving of the title, hunter-conservationist.
  • It means that you believe, as Theodore Roosevelt did, that the only way to keep wildlife with us was to make conservation an individual’s responsibility of citizenship.
  • It means that you believe that critical wildlife management decisions must be based on real science, not advocacy disguised as science or emotional opinion.
  • It means that you understand the need to lead by example, that hunting is an honorable tradition in service to wildlife and the environment, so those who do not hunt will not take a position against hunting.
  • It means you have a voice that will be heard.

The Boone and Crockett Club’s Associates Program was created as a place where the collective voice of like-minded individuals could be heard behind the Club’s ongoing efforts to make conservation of wildlife and their habitats a priority. These efforts are based on the historical fact that wildlife conservation happens because sportsmen hunt, fish, trap, and shoot. Hunter-conservationists are the only group that has consistently stepped up to the plate for wildlife. The results speak for themselves. History has also shown that wildlife doesn’t happen by chance.

Q: Is it possible that one small group of sportsmen was able to establish American Conservation?

A: It is if you have the right people working together in the right places at the right time with vision and commitment. It also helps if this same group has been on point for the past 125 years and focused on laws and policies that allow conservation to happen.

The next question is, can good conservation policy be established and bad policy blocked for only $35.00 per year?

By becoming a Boone and Crockett Club Associate your voice will be added to many others like you empowering our Conservation Policy team in Washington, DC to add strength-in-numbers to its arsenal in making sure hunters and hunting, and therefore wildlife and their habitats, get the attention they deserve. You will be counted as part of a larger group whose “conservation identity” extends beyond that of just buying a hunting license.

The North American Model of Wildlife Conservation is the most successful of its kind in human history. It works because the people own the wildlife and have access to them. It exists because of the Boone and Crockett Club and its members.

One of the seven principles of this Model is – Democratic Rule of Law. This means that laws developed by the people and enforced by government agencies will regulate the proper use of wildlife resources, i.e. Conservation Policy.

Since 1887, the Club has been engaged in putting forth the laws and policies that support conservation, as well as ensuring that there is public wildlife and public hunting.
